Wagon Shed
Replica
Built: 1993
Large farms mainly comprised utility buildings to house the livestock (stables, byres, pens and sties) and store the fodder (barn). For working the fields, however, large farming machines and equipment were required. They were used only seasonally and were too large to be stored in the barns or under awnings. To store them properly and safe from the weather, wagon sheds were built, usually at the rear of the property. These simply constructed sheds were accessible from one side and protected the threshing machines, wagons, harrows and ploughs, for example, from damp.
