The Agricultural Information Pavilion
The Agricultural Information Pavilion was extensively renovated and newly equipped in the anniversary year of 2024. A small exhibition vividly presents the topic of the three-field system, explores historical farming methods, and addresses arable crops and their processing. The exhibit connects past and present: for centuries, life in the region was fundamentally shaped by agriculture. Today, approximately 42 percent of Hesse’s land area is used for agricultural purposes. Arable farming remains a key component of agriculture, playing an essential role in both historical and contemporary life by producing animal feed, raw materials for textiles, and food and luxury goods.
Visitors to the museum can test their knowledge about arable farming and grain varieties at fixed interactive stations. How exactly does barley differ from wheat? At the “Guess the Species!” station, curious participants are sure to find the right answers. The pavilion’s surroundings have also been redesigned.
We extend our gratitude to the Förderkreis Freilichtmuseum Hessenpark e.V. and all donors for their financial support of the exhibition.
