Brush makers

The Hintz family likes to use natural materials best for making their brushes. Horsehair and wild boar bristles are also used, as is badger hair and cactus fibres, pear wood and olive wood. This is the tradition that has been practised for three generations – and today, the parents, two sons and a daughter still produce all kinds of brushes in the old way.

Anyone entering their shop on the way to the museum’s marketplace, will be amazed by over 400 different brushes and brooms. And if you’re looking for a brush specially for a lamp, a hat or your beer glasses, you’ve come to the right place. And because this old-fashioned craft continues to be in demand, the Hintz family is actively supported in their work by eleven colleagues from the workshop for the handicapped based in Treysa.
