The Meissner Lop Rabbit
Until the 1950s, the breeding of stable rabbits like the Meissner Lop rabbit was still common in rural areas. The so-called »long-eared« once added an enjoyable variety to meal planning. Families without arable land and pasture raised these undemanding animals using wayside herbage very cost-effectively. The Widder rabbits were also a favorite to breed for their beautiful black and silver coat, which was highly prized by fur traders.
