Hemp

Hemp is one of the oldest and most versatile agricultural crops. Its fibres were used to make ropes and coarse cloth. Its seeds are nutritious and can be pressed for oil. Hildegard von Bingen (1098 to 1179), the medieval Benedictine nun and polymath, is only one of the authors who documented its use as a medicinal plant.
