Every Day Live becomes History
Historical Landmarks of the Rhine-Main-Region
An exhibition assembled by the Planning Association Metropolitan Region Frankfurt/Rhine-Main (since 2011 Regional Association FrankfurtRhineMain), local historians and the Hessenpark Open Air Museum draw the visitor’s attention to the humbler elements that tell a tale about the region: electricity substations, crossroad signs, wayside shrines or boundary stones. Many witnesses of times gone by can be found right at our doorstep. Our landscape has also been shaped by historical methods of working and using the land. Ancient trade routes, too, have left their mark. Many of these inconspicuous relics of the past are not listed on historic registers, and yet they particularly deserve to be protected and preserved.
