Workshops Ensemble
This ensemble presents workshops and tools from various periods and places of origin. Some craft workshops are installed in their original buildings and feature original equipment, such as the Joinery from Fulda, while others were set up in some of the Open Air Museum’s utility buildings. Besides a farrier’s forge and a sawmill, a pre-industrial brickyard has been set up in the grounds. A large wagon shed houses agricultural equipment such as threshing machines, wagons, harrows and ploughs.
Catch a demonstration and peek over the craftspeople’s shoulders at scheduled times. Look on as they prepare the reassembling of buildings or are involved in restoration work. The presentation of forgotten or no longer performed traditional trades and crafts forms a bridge to today’s maintenance work at the museum.
