Andrea Kömpel is sure about one thing: Home is not only a place but also a taste. This is why she offers a mouth-watering range of Hessian specialties and souvenirs in her shoppe. Everything is either handcrafted or produced in small, artisanal workshops. The owner knows all artisans and their products by heart. She has only chosen products she enjoys herself.
Champagne pressed form orchard fruit in the Odenwald, various kinds of Apfelwein, German cider, from the Taunus and the Wetterau, dessert Apfelwein from the Rhön mountains, boiled Apfelwein sweets, handmade chocolate, fudge and marshmallows from Hesse, whisky from the “Hessian highlands”, oil from North Hesse, premium vinegar and rarities such as apple verjuice, delicious variations of mustard, ketchup, and chutney – the product range is a sheer delight for epicures. Seasonal products such as handcrafted Easter bunnies, chocolate teacakes, truffles, and gingerbread are on offer as well.
Besides Hessian delicacies, a small but delightful selection of handmade souvenirs is available – ranging from Apfelwein soap and shower lotion, a family of sheep which leads a second life as stools, felted bags, key chains, woollen blankets from Hesse to award-winning games for all ages as well as humorous postcards and greeting cards. Readings and other events complete the coherent concept of this shoppe.
